    Een asafdichting voor een differentieel is een afdichtingsonderdeel dat wordt geïnstalleerd op de plek waar de aandrijfassen of de ingaande as de differentieelbehuizing in- of uitgaan. De functie ervan is het voorkomen van lekkage van differentieelolie en het beschermen van de interne onderdelen tegen vuil, vocht en andere verontreinigingen.

    Belangrijke specificaties zijn onder andere de binnen- en buitendiameter, de dikte, het materiaal (zoals NBR, FKM of PTFE), de temperatuurbestendigheid, de drukbestendigheid en de compatibiliteit met het differentieel. Het moet bestand zijn tegen rotatie, belasting en blootstelling aan tandwielolie.
