Ontstekingsbobines moeten bestand zijn tegen hoge temperaturen (meestal -40°C tot +150°C), trillingen en elektrische belasting, terwijl ze een constante vonkenergie en nauwkeurige timing leveren.


    Vervanging is nodig wanneer de bobine defect raakt of zwakker wordt. Veelvoorkomende symptomen zijn onder andere een haperende motor, een onregelmatig stationair toerental, verminderd vermogen, een hoger brandstofverbruik, startproblemen of een brandend motorstoringslampje.
