    De Ignition Coil (5DA 358 000-351) levert de hoge spanning die nodig is voor sterke en betrouwbare ontstekingsprestaties.     Belangrijke specificaties zijn onder andere de bedrijfsspanning (doorgaans 12V), de uitgangsspanning (vaak tot 30-40 kV), het ontwerp van de bobine (enkelvoudig, dubbel of bobine-op-stekker), het type connector en de montageconfiguratie. Ontstekingsbobines moeten bestand zijn tegen hoge temperaturen (meestal -40°C tot +150°C), trillingen en elektrische belasting, terwijl ze een constante vonkenergie en nauwkeurige timing leveren.
